Our Story
Lake Bunyonyi Orphans Care Project Uganda is a non-profit organization founded in 2008 by a local farmer, David Brians.
As an Elder who grew up serving in the church, he realized there was a need for someone to start a care center for the needy children and orphans. A growing number of these children were left suffering due to AIDS killing some parents and some from very poor backgrounds. Others because of early marriages due to lack of educational support and guidance to the youth in this village.
In 2008, David started with 5 orphans from the village community and after one year he had about 40 children under his care, at his home at Lake Bunyonyi. He provided food, shelter, clothing, health care, some education and necessities of life from the generous donations received from local people
and later on from Canada and other places globally. At present we have 25 vunerable children and 8 warm and wise elders.
Our priority is on education. Education is the key for these children to achieve their full potential to live a meaningful life. We are looking for sponsorship of an orphan or general financial contributions to our education fund.
100% of all contributions received are used for the community. No funds are used for administration. All administration is done by our volunteers and with the financial assistance of Davis Tours Uganda.
Volunteers:
Tourists are always welcome to visit the children and support directly whenever they wish. We are always looking for volunteers, contact us if you are interested in sharing some of your time with Lake Bunyonyi Orphans Care Project, Uganda.
